One of the precious ladies who received a kidney transplant from my brother in 2017 is getting married this weekend. She had his initials, JCS, and the date of her transplant sewn into her wedding dress. 💚🥺 Once again, I'd like to thank Courtney Nicole Ray for whispering across the hospital room..."Is he an organ donor?" I'll never forgot the moment I found his wallet and saw that red heart on his driver's license. It changed everything with our family that day...to a few disagreements, hurt feelings and delays with his service, because Courtney and I wanted to honor his wishes. When you tragically lose someone, many just seek immediate closure and do not want to think about other people. In fact, they almost can't think about anything else but the pain that is crushing them. This is normal, but not considering organ donation steals a chance of a better life, a healthier life and an extended life to someone else. Let your family know you're an organ donor before they are faced with that decision...in a moment of great sorrow. Even we you lose life, you can also give life.
