I don’t “watch” Youtube. When needed, I search for instructional videos, maybe fainting goats, or just upload my own videos to share with family and friends.
Today, I pulled up Youtube on my bedroom tv (only to force myself not to watch Hawaii Five-O on Netflix). I picked a few music videos from Needtobreathe and Zach Williams, and just let it go from there for about two hours.
Songs that I’ve heard a hundred times, like Even If (Mercy Me) and Overwhelmed (Big Daddy Weave), were somehow new as I listened – and saw – the music.
The video, Overwhelmed, will pluck you right out of your safe place and remind us of the Great Commission, of Jesus, of creation, and what life is really about.
Even If… it’s a song from a place of desperation and pain. I love it, and I relate to it in so many ways.
So, even though I am not publishing a lot right now, I wanted to save this lyrical memory here.
“It’s easy to sing
When there’s nothing to bring me down
But what will I say
When I’m held to the flame
Like I am right now.”
How much faith, trust and sacrifice would we be able to display if actually walking toward a fiery furnace, with the heat already killing those that walk in front of us?
I know You’re able, and I know You can…
