Hold On To Me

03.21.21

Back in 2015, I converted the back of my closet into a “prayer war room.”

I had a Lauren Daigle’s How Can It Be album on repeat anytime I was in there.

I’ve loved all of her music since that time, despite any negative press that surrounded her talk show circuit a few years ago. I was also blessed to have VIP, front row, pre-show-paint-party and interview time at her Birmingham, AL concert in 2018.

The Covid year canceled a lot, but it didn’t stop all of the music and many artists still have new releases.

This is one of the good ones.

I think it was the very first verse of her latest song, Hold On To Me, that caused my eyes to begin to water…

When you feel like you’re suffocating and you are barely breathing, then ask Him to hold on to you.

Is it hard to do that sometimes? Absolutely. It’s easier to just be lukewarm and ignore God, but that’s when obedience is required. I’m so guilty of not resting in His love or asking for help the moment a problem puts chains around my ankles and threatens to pull me under.

Even if you don’t believe you have enough breath to utter the words…the Spirit makes intercession for us. Just ask, plead, and pray.

Hold on to me when it’s too dark to see You

When I am sure I have reached the end

Hold on to me when I forget I need You

When I let go, hold me again

Full Lyrics

When the best of me is barely breathin’
When I’m not somebody I believe in
Hold on to me

When I miss the light the night has stolen
When I’m slammin’ all the doors You’ve opened
Hold on to me
Hold on to me

Hold on to me when it’s too dark to see You
When I am sure I have reached the end
Hold on to me when I forget I need You
When I let go, hold me again

When I don’t feel like I’m worth defendin’
When I’m tired of my pretendin’
Hold on to me

When I start to break in desperation
Underneath the weight of expectation
Hold on to me
Hold on to me

Hold on to me when it’s too dark to see You
When I am sure I have reached the end
Hold on to me when I forget I need You
When I let go, hold me again

I could rest here in Your arms forever
‘Cause I know nobody loves me better
Hold on to me
Hold on to me
