Sow the Seeds

There’s never been a passage of scripture that has stayed with me longer than this one.

My earliest memory is around 1998 when I attended a conference based on Luke 8.

Later in 2008-2009, I was encouraged to start a small group for 5th grade girls. I didn’t even know what I was doing at the time or the depth and significance of those first verses I quoted.

I love that today, in 2021, sixteen years after God called this precious man home, the divinely-inspired messages of Dr. Adrian Rogers still appear in my inbox and speak to me at just the right time. His voice has been a constant influence in my life and the Lord uses Him to build upon a foundation of seeds from so many years ago.

As you mature with the Lord, it’s a little unpleasant when you realize you’ve unknowingly (or knowingly) planted some seeds in your life, or in the lives of your family, that have grown into something larger than you could have ever imagined.

Quite possibly Jack and the Beanstalk size.

Maybe the seeds were sown by a parent or grandparent, or even a spouse. What do you do?

First, get your own heart in order by starting with truly understanding this parable. Read it more than once. Write it down and research commentaries.

Then, begin to cross reference verses like Hosea 10:12 and ask the Lord to lead you deeper into His Word for wisdom and guidance of what to do next.

You will be amazed at what you learn.
