God Is Good

I often communicate with song lyrics and movie quotes.

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

Hans Christian Anderson

I love music. Movie scores are some of my favorites because often, the melody is so powerful it doesn’t even need words.

Then, there are the songs that overwhelm, convict or encourage my soul.

Or it can confirm a promise.

God is Good

As soon as I heard the first line of this song, I knew it was one for me. I can already envision the slideshow of childhood photos to mirror each lyric.

Ironically, it complements my recent post, Promised Land.

Please know that it’s not all about regret or wasted time. As Christians, we have to allow God to renew our minds away from the culture of this world.

We grow up immersed in fairy tales and “playing pretend.” We develop dreams for our life based on an early, wordly viewpoint.

However, the sooner a Christian surrenders their will and life to Jesus, then our desires begin to transform to what He wants for us.

There’s an inner struggle every time the world flashes something new in front of our eyes.

We have quite a rebellious nature and the “all about me” mentality doesn’t work with “take up your cross and follow Me.”

There’s a little me and a big Me in that statement. Who’s in charge of your life right now?

The path you’re walking may or may not be the one you wanted before knowing the Lord.

You will have doubts along the way or you might want to turn back or simply stop right where you are.

God is good.

He knows the way.

It will likely seem terrifying to us at times. We might even doubt God.

Psalm 23 tells us that although we do have enemies and we will walk through dark valleys…we will not be alone.

He is with us.

The LORD, the Psalmist’s Shepherd.
A Psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Third grade, I drew my dreams

On a blank page, my own silver screen

Painted sun, never rain

And love without pain

It’s funny, that life I designed

Never played out like I had in mind

I’m pretty sure I did not choose this shirt or the barrettes.
